I love where it's heading, and the last page is a note from Dysart who did IMPRESSIVE research on/in Uganda..you may actually learn something from reading this book! Great review Rich! I'm really wanting to pick up that Superman too!
Not so much the "We Can Still Be Friends" though...I get enough of that from life....Rusty Bailyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18316392263223929400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7369220268366947449.post-37611298380236476682008-10-22T14:35:00.000-04:002008-10-22T14:35:00.000-04:00Let me throw in: GUS AND HIS GANG, which we got b...Let me throw in: GUS AND HIS GANG, which we got back in today after some damaged copies last week, is a MUST BUY for everyone who likes comics. It's a Western, it's gorgeous, and it's amazing. I'd say more, but I think I'm planning a review. So just buy it, already.Dustin Harbinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14773952076286647203noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7369220268366947449.post-76697629242903118972008-10-22T14:23:00.000-04:002008-10-22T14:23:00.000-04:00Andy, I'm with you on crossover fatigue. Either way, I've vowed that these are the last crossover events from either company that I buy. None of them read as complete stories. Though I think Final Crisis has been probably the most self-contained I think of any of the event books of the past few years despite the numerous spin-offs they're trying to trick us into buying.Rich Barretthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15953837288549623272noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7369220268366947449.post-45624172891005924642008-10-22T14:17:00.000-04:002008-10-22T14:17:00.000-04:00Let's do HEAVY LIQUID in the Discussion Group!! or...Let's do HEAVY LIQUID in the Discussion Group!! or 100%. Paul Pope to me is the ultimate stepping stone from Mainstream into the Alternative because his comics are so firmly entrnched in both camps. Wild, wild art-work, challenging SF concepts, but page after page a very clear and concise storytelling.

Great choices as usual.

Note to everyone on a budget: If you can't afford or don't want to spend for the Spirit Archives, buy this new trade. It is EVERYTHING you could want from eisner's Spirit. fair warning: you will hunger for more.

Though I am major Morrison fan, I have given up on FINAL CRISIS. All of those multi-book cross-over things are just out of my demagraphic. Unless IDW comes through with that Matlock/Jessica Fletcher cross-over (with a Columbo solo-shocker as a back-up tale).
I think the store should keep a Rascal behind the counter for folks like me who can't make the trip around the whole store....old, old, oldAndy Mansellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01107759322885626363noreply@blogger.com
