Charlotte Mini-Con :: January 19, 2008
That's right, babies! Celebrating the 30th anniversary last year of the mini-con that was the start of it all for a 20-something Shelton Drum got him so nostalgic that he's doing it again! Last year was so fun that even the staff are looking forward to it--which, frankly, is weird. But don't let that stop you! There'll be a ton of dealers from the region, almost certainly a special guest or two, and all of us! We'll be announcing further news as we have it...right here!

I was thinking about the mini-con the other day. I'm glad to hear we are doing it again next year. I had fun.
If memory serves, I recall the late Sam Grainger, Bill Sienkiwicz, Clyde Caldwell and Mike Baron (among others) were all appeared in those heady days.
See you guys in January!
I believe your memory is correct, Chuck, although Shelton knows better than I do. I've actually never been to one before. But I think Steve Rude has been as well. Also, this year, Dustin Harbin is planning an appearance. Very rare!
I hope it's in the same spot it was last year.....PERFECT place for a mini-con.
Nice logo, D. Is that you?
Keep me posted re: guests and all that. Me and J Chris Campbell are always looking for a comic convention as an excuse to hang out together.
Rob, you don't need a reason to come down to Charlotte and visit us? But, as reasons go, surely you can do better than J. Chris? We've got plenty of nice people right here in town, without importing guys from Greenville.
Oh, that logo is by (I think) an old friend of Shelton's named Everett. He drew it by hand, and Shelton found the actual board earlier this year, so I scanned it and Illustrator-ized it for use in our modern world. So no, no credit to me.
Everett did that logo?!?! What a cool & talented fella...he does everything by hand. Old school...the way things should be!
Is there a street address for the place where the mini-con is being held? Also, what's the price of admission? FREE?!
Kris, I don't know the street address offhand, but it's the corner of E. 5th and E. 7th streets. And while I carefully avoid guaranteeing it, because we are greedy, I think there will be a suggested donation to a local charity--probably MS--in lieu of an entry fee.
Donations to charities are better than free. Awesome.
I added the Mini-Con to the Dollar Bin's Upcoming Events. Thanks for the info and we'll see you there.
Shelton, is it too late for Andy and I to bring down some free samples of Chapter One of 'Light Children' ( Official Light Children Website)? We'd love to distribute some goodies at the mini-con...
